Read online Arch-Conspirator.pdf PDF, EPUB, MOBI, TXT, DOC Arch-Conspirator I quite enjoyed this shirt book. It took me only a couple of hours to read it. I haven’t read anything by Roth before this, and only heard conflicting opinions of the Divergent series. But for some reason, this novella caught my eye and I thank Veronica Roth, Tor and Netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review. The traditional setting of Antigone is transplanted to a post-apocalyptic Earth and they are all members of a dwindling community. This set up an interesting tension among the characters and the society in general. I think it worked well, but what do I know? I haven’t actually ever read Antigone and only know the bare bones of the story. Roth uses virtually all of the POV characters in 1st person that even appear in the story. It could’ve been confusing, but I thought she did a good job of altering the voice just enough to make them distinct. And in using all these POVs you get an awful lot of anguish and emotion from all angles, which makes this an emotional rollercoaster by Veronica Roth

  • Half-Life of a Stolen Sister
Half-Life of a Stolen Sister by Rachel Cantor 2024-05-09T08:34:10+00:00

Half-Life of a Stolen Sister I found this book to be frustrating and confusing but, on the balance, I was compelled by it. I really disliked the anachronistic references (dollar store, emails). To me, they disrupted what was otherwise an eccentric but very moving portrait of the Bronte(y)s. I honestly don’t understand what their purpose was (the Brontës, they’re just like us??). It seemed like creative writing workshop stuff that was left there and should have been edited out Half-Life of a Stolen Sister by Rachel Cantor

  • Lady Macbeth
Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid 2024-05-09T08:34:10+00:00

Lady Macbeth Ava Reid has done it again in delivering a spectacular work of gothic fantasy, and Lady Macbeth takes the seat of my favorite book by her. A gothic retelling of Macbeth laced with feminine rage and fantasy elements, this book is not for the faint of heart. It’s dark, with grotesque scenes, and explores mature themes, so make sure to check the trigger warnings before reading.Suffocating in a misogynistic world, Roscilla retaliates in loud and quiet ways that I felt were galvanizing and intriguing Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid

  • Playing with Matches
Playing with Matches by Brian Katcher 2024-05-09T08:34:10+00:00

Playing with Matches This is the second book Ive read by Brian Katcher, and it was definitely hard to put down! I read most of it before bed, and only noticed when I put it down that it was already 1am. Of course, I finished it first thing in the morning before brushing my teeth. Brian is excellent at creating main characters that are just on the edge of being antiheroes. And like his novel almost perfect, I found myself completely content at the end, knowing that the ending was not completely happy nor a complete tragedy Playing with Matches by Brian Katcher

  • The Mars House
The Mars House by Natasha Pulley 2024-05-09T08:34:10+00:00

The Mars House I feel bad about giving one of her books 1 star so this is getting 2I do love a weird book, and Mars, polar bears, talking mammoths, and nerdy linguistics tangents should check all those boxes. But too much weird stuff in this book that had uncomfortable implications, and the time spent on politics and worldbuilding meant there was so much less of the emotional depth that I have come to expect from Natasha The Mars House by Natasha Pulley
